Apps and extension

What the extension can see and keep

When the Omne extension reads a page, what it sends and where, and why it asks for access to so many sites.

The extension reads a profile only while its panel or a capture is open, and what you save goes only to Omne. It has no analytics and sends nothing to other servers.

Why it asks for many sites

Chrome asks you to allow it on the platforms it supports: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Substack, Reddit, Mastodon, Medium, Quora, Skool and the Kindle sites. Without that, a Save button can't appear and a profile can't be read. Bookmarks are a separate permission, asked for only if you use that source.

What it reads

On a post it reads what the page shows: the text, picture, numbers and the creator's name and photo. It does this to save the post with its real numbers. For sync sources, it reads your own saved lists in your own signed-in browser, in a window it opens and closes. It stops at a sign-in, check or captcha.

For Facebook and LinkedIn saves it does nothing on its own: it reads only what the page has shown you as you scroll.

Your logins

Your logins for other sites stay in your browser. Connecting Skool, Substack or Medium hands Omne a session through the extension, sealed on arrival, and Omne asks you first in its Connect window.

Remove it

Removing the extension in Chrome stops all of this. Items already saved stay in your workspace. Disconnect a source in Settings, Sync sources, to stop it first.
