Your link name and how a short link address is built
Your omne.to links go under a link name you pick, so the address is omne.to, your name, then a word. Pick it once and keep it.
Every short link on omne.to has three parts: the domain, your link name and a word, as in omne.to/your-name/launch. You pick the link name once, and it makes your words yours alone.
Pick your link name
The first time you open Links, a card asks you to Pick your link name. Type a name after omne.to/ and click Pick. The card shows a preview, such as omne.to/your-name/launch.
A link name is 1 to 32 lowercase letters, digits and dashes, and it can't start or end with a dash. It has to be free. If it isn't, Omne says "Someone already has that name." Some names are kept by Omne, and then Omne says "That name is kept by Omne." Names and first words share one space, so a name can't be a word that another link already uses.
You need a link name before you can create a link on omne.to. If you only use your own domain, you don't. See add your own link domain.
It is separate from your store handle
Your store has its own handle at omne.store. The link name is a different thing, and the two don't have to match. See claim your handle.
An address stays as made
A link keeps its address once it exists, because people may have printed or shared it. In the link window the address is locked. Click Change to move it, and Omne warns you that the old address will stop working. Anyone who opens the old one lands on the home page. Its clicks stay with the link.
Your own domain
On your own domain, there is no link name in the address. Any word on the domain is yours, so the address is the domain and the word, such as links.yourname.com/launch. That needs a paid plan.
