When a sync doesn't work
What the messages in Sync sources mean and how to fix them: the extension not found, the wrong account, a sign-in needed, or nothing new.
Each source in Settings shows a status line under it. It says how many items it has brought in and when it last synced, or it shows the reason the last attempt failed in red. Most problems come down to the extension, the account you are signed in to, or a service asking you to sign in again.
Install Omne's browser extension first
Sources read in your browser need the extension. If you just installed it, reload the Omne page. After an extension update, a message may say the extension was updated; reload the page and try again.
Omne's extension didn't answer
A long read can outlast a single wait. Reload the Omne page, check that the extension is switched on in Chrome, and press Sync now again.
This browser is signed in as another account
Omne keeps each source tied to one account. For Instagram, the message names both accounts. Switch accounts on that site in the same browser and sync again, or press Add another account to track the second one as well.
Please sign in
Messages such as "Sign in to Threads in this browser, then try again" mean the site isn't signed in. Open it in the same browser, sign in, and sync again.
The service rejected the token or sign-in
For Readwise, copy a fresh access token. For sources that use the service's own sign-in, such as Bluesky, YouTube, X or Mastodon, remove the row and connect again. Omne passes along the service's own wording, which usually names the problem.
Checks, captchas and limits
When a site shows a check, a login prompt or a captcha, Omne stops and doesn't try to get past it. Complete the check yourself in the browser, wait a while, and try again. X charges for each post read, so a sync reads your newest 100 and stops at the last one it knew, and Sync now reads the next 100 further back.
Nothing new
"0 new, 25 already here" is a healthy answer. It means everything it found is already in the Library. If something you expect is missing, check the waiting list in the source's row, or an item you deleted earlier, which stays excluded.
If none of this helps, contact support and say which source and what the status line says.
