Find ads that keep running in Discover
Discover's Ads page lists Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn ads and filters them by where they ran, how long they ran, how many versions were tested, format, status and call to action.
The Ads page shows ads from Meta's Ad Library and LinkedIn's Ad Library that Discover holds, each drawn the way its platform shows it. It helps you spot the ads an advertiser keeps running, because an ad that stays live for months is usually paying for itself.
Open it
Open Discover and use the switch beside the quick views to choose Ads instead of Posts. You can also go straight to the page at /discover/ads inside your workspace. The search box reads Search advertisers and ads.
Filters for ads
The ads filter has its own settings.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Ran on | Where the ad was shown, as the ad library says: Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Messenger, Meta's partner apps, WhatsApp or LinkedIn. Only places that ads actually carry are listed. |
| Format | Image or Video. |
| Status | Any, Running now or Ended. Ended appears only once some ad in the list has ended. |
| Running for | 7+, 30+, 90+ or 180+ days. An ad that keeps running keeps paying for itself. |
| Variations | 2+, 5+ or 10+ versions of the same ad being tested. |
| Started | When the ad began, from Week to Year, or Pick dates. |
| Sort by | Relevance, Longest-running, Newest, Most variations, Advertiser, A to Z or Advertiser, Z to A. |
| Call to action | The button text on the ad, such as Learn more. |
Quick views for ads
Four views set the filters for you. Click one to switch it on and again to clear it.
- Long-runners: running 90 days or more.
- Most tested: 5 or more variations of one ad.
- Started this month: ads that began in the last 30 days, newest first.
- Video ads: ads with a video.
LinkedIn's ads
With LinkedIn Ads connected in Integrations, a search of three letters or more on the Ads page is also asked of LinkedIn's own Ad Library: the advertisers and ads it finds join the same list, with the same filters. LinkedIn's library holds every ad run on LinkedIn since June 2023.
Each LinkedIn ad looks as it does in LinkedIn's feed: the advertiser with Promoted, the ad's words, its picture, video or carousel, and the headline with the site and its button. Under it, how long it ran and, where LinkedIn says, its impressions.
Once found, an ad stays in Discover for everyone. Searching LinkedIn's library needs LinkedIn Ads connected in your workspace; see LinkedIn Ads.
Why variations matter
Advertisers test several versions of the same ad and keep the ones that work. A high variation count shows what an advertiser is working on right now, and a long run time shows which version survived. Looking at both for one advertiser tells you more than either alone.
Ads of one creator or brand
A creator's or brand's page has a Posts or ads switch when Discover holds ads for them. If it does not, the page says they are not running any ads on Facebook or Instagram right now.
Add an ad
Owners and admins can paste a link from Meta's Ad Library, or a LinkedIn Ad Library ad (linkedin.com/ad-library/detail/…), into the search box. See Add a post, a creator or an ad.
Limits
Discover reads Meta's Ad Library and LinkedIn's, so you see ads on Facebook, Instagram, Meta's other places and LinkedIn. Other ad libraries are not part of it yet.
