How to add your own domain for short links
Use a domain you own, like links.yourname.com, for short links. Add it in Omne, create the DNS record Omne shows, then check it.
On a paid plan you can put your short links on a domain you own, so they read links.yourname.com/launch instead of omne.to. Any word on that domain is yours. On the Free plan, your links stay on omne.to under your link name.
Add the domain
- Open Store, then Links, then Domains. The same page is in your workspace settings.
- On the Link domains tab, click Add domain.
- Enter Your domain, such as links.yourname.com. Use one you own that isn't used for anything else. A subdomain works well.
- Click Add domain.
Only owners and admins of the workspace can add domains. If you are on the Free plan, the page says "Your own domain comes with a paid plan." Omne's own domains, such as omne.to and omne.so, can't be added.
Point it at Omne
The new domain shows Waiting for DNS, with a record to create where you bought the domain:
- Type: CNAME
- Name: your domain
- Value: the address Omne shows, with a copy button beside it
Some providers want only the part before your domain as the name, such as "links". If you used a bare domain, such as yourname.com, some providers don't allow a CNAME there. Use an ALIAS or ANAME record instead.
Check it
Click Check DNS. If the record is found, Omne says the domain is connected and new links can use it, and the status becomes Active. If not, Omne says it doesn't point at Omne yet. A DNS change can take a few minutes, sometimes longer, so check again later.
Use it
When you create a link, a domain picker appears next to the short link, so you choose between omne.to and your domain. Links on your own domain don't need a link name.
Archive, bring back or delete
The three-dot menu on a domain offers Edit domain, Check DNS (until it is verified), Archive or Bring back, and Delete. An archived domain keeps its links working and stops being offered for new ones. A domain with links on it can't be deleted until they are gone, so archive it instead.
Search and filters
Use Search domains, and switch between Active and Archived.
