Read inside Omne and highlight

Read saved links and docs in reader mode, mark passages in saved posts as highlights, and find the highlights that come in from Readwise, Kindle and Snipd.

Saved links and docs open as readable pages inside Omne, reader mode strips the controls away, and highlights collect the passages that matter.

Reader mode

Open a doc or a saved link and press the Reader mode button in the top bar. The page keeps only the way back and the button that leaves reader mode. Press Escape, or the same button, to return to the normal view. The Outline button at the foot of the page lists the headings so you can jump around a long article.

Highlight a passage in a saved post

Open a post from the Posts tile and select a passage of its text with your mouse or keyboard. A small Highlight button appears above the selection. Pressing it saves that passage as a highlight attached to the post. Selections shorter than three characters don't show the button.

Where highlights show up

Highlights are their own kind of item. They have a tile, Highlights, and they stay out of the main list until you open that tile, so a book with 200 highlights doesn't crowd everything else. Each highlight keeps a link to the item it came from. Its menu has Go to source to open the original and Copy text.

A book, article or podcast episode that arrived from Readwise, Kindle or Snipd is a card, and its highlights are listed on that card under a heading such as "12 highlights", each with your own note if you wrote one. Setting those sources up is covered in Readwise.

Searching highlights Typing in the Library search box also searches highlight text, so a quote you remember only in part is usually enough to find its source.
