How to connect OpenRouter in one click
OpenRouter is the one-click way to run Ask AI. Sign in on OpenRouter's page, approve Omne, and many models become available in your chat.
OpenRouter reaches many models from several makers through one account, and it is the only text provider that connects with a sign-in instead of a pasted key. Omne asks OpenRouter for a key on your behalf, so you never copy anything.
Connect it
- Open Settings, then AI providers.
- Open the OpenRouter card, which carries the One click tag.
- Choose the sign-in button. A window opens on OpenRouter's own page.
- Sign in to OpenRouter, or create an account, and approve Omne.
- The window closes and OpenRouter appears under Connected.
Omne receives a key from OpenRouter, checks it against OpenRouter's model list, and seals it. Nothing is registered or paid for on Omne's side.
If your browser blocks the window, Omne runs the same sign-in in the current tab and brings you back to the same page afterwards.
Add credit on OpenRouter
OpenRouter bills you directly. A new OpenRouter account needs credit before most models answer, so if a chat returns an error about payment, add credit in your OpenRouter account. Open the card in Omne and use the link next to Your usage to see your activity on OpenRouter's site. The AI usage page in Settings also reads your OpenRouter spend, limit and remaining balance live.
Pick a model
OpenRouter lists models from several makers, named in the form maker/model. Omne starts a chat on the newest Claude Sonnet it finds, and falls back to the newest GPT-5 model. The model menu in Ask AI lists everything else your key can reach.
Remove it
Open the OpenRouter card, find the connection under Connected, and remove it. Omne deletes its copy of the key. The key itself stays in your OpenRouter account, where you can delete it under its key settings. Omne says so when you remove the connection, so you do not leave a live key behind by accident.
When it does not connect
- A pop-up blocker can stop the window. Allow pop-ups for the app, or let Omne use the current tab.
- If the card later shows a tag that says it needs signing in again, remove the connection and connect it again.
