Unsubscribes, bounces and complaints
How Omne marks subscribers who opt out, bounce or complain, and what the plan is for keeping your list clean.
SoonThis part of Omne isn't open yet. This page says what's planned, and it can still change.
Every subscriber in Omne has a status, and three of the four mean the person should not be emailed: Unsubscribed, Bounced and Complained. You can set the first by hand today. The other two are applied by Omne when sending opens, because they depend on what happens to real email.
The statuses today
On the Subscribers page you can change someone between Subscribed and Unsubscribed in their panel. Bounced and Complained appear on a row when set by the system, and the filter above the list offers All, Subscribed and Unsubscribed. See Add and manage subscribers.
What the plan covers
The email plan documents describe what Omne intends to do when sending is live:
- Put an unsubscribe link in every email, and the one-click unsubscribe header that large mailbox providers require.
- Show your postal address in every marketing email. This is why the Postal address field exists in Email settings.
- Stop sending to an address that hard-bounces, and to anyone who unsubscribed or complained.
- Keep a person who unsubscribed off your list even if they sign up again by mistake.
- Pause a send when bounce or complaint rates climb too high, so a bad list does not damage delivery for everyone.
- Remove invalid, mistyped and throwaway addresses when you import or collect signups.
These are plans, not features you can use yet.
What you do
Only add people who asked to hear from you, and keep the Ask new subscribers to confirm their address switch on. Tell people what to expect when they sign up. If someone asks to be removed, set them to Unsubscribed rather than deleting them.
Your responsibility
The terms say that you are responsible for having the right to email your subscribers and for honouring their choices. Read the legal pages for the exact wording.
