Sync sources: what fills your Library on its own
Sync sources bring your feeds, highlights and saved posts into the Library automatically. Where to find them, how they work, and which ones are proven.
A sync source is a connection that keeps filling your Library without you doing anything. You set one up once, and new items from it arrive on their own. Open Settings, then Workspace, then Sync sources.
How they work
Each source belongs to you. Another member of the workspace doesn't see your sources, can't run them and doesn't get your saves. Omne remembers what each source has already brought in, so nothing arrives twice, and an item you delete doesn't come back on the next sync.
Sources read in two ways. Some are read by Omne's server with a token or sign-in you provide, which is stored sealed. Others are read in your own browser by the Omne extension, signed in as you, so your login never leaves the browser. Those need the extension installed first.
Choosing what comes in
Most saved-post sources don't pour everything in at once. They put what they read on a waiting list. A row says how many items are ready to add to your Library, and Choose opens the list. Tick some, or choose Select all, then press Add to Library, or press Skip to leave them out for good. Each account has a switch, Add new ones without asking, that skips the waiting list and adds new saves as they appear. Readwise has its own chooser for books, categories or everything.
Which sources work today
Tested with real data so far:
- RSS feeds, checked every hour
- Readwise, checked every day
- Instagram saves, through the extension
- Pinterest boards, through the extension
- Browser bookmarks, through the extension
Built and still being tested, so they may fail with a real account: Substack saved, Mastodon bookmarks, Bluesky saved, YouTube likes and playlists, X bookmarks, Snipd, Readwise Reader, Reddit saved, TikTok favorites, Threads saves, Facebook saves and LinkedIn saves. Kindle highlights come through the extension and haven't been proven yet.
Facebook and LinkedIn limit automated collection in their terms. For these two, Omne opens your saved posts in a normal tab, does nothing on its own, and reads only what you scroll past yourself. A small risk to your account remains, and the card says so before you start.
Spotify is marked Coming soon. Apple Music and YouTube's Watch Later aren't built.
Separately, email capture gives you an address to forward emails to.
