Add a post, a creator or an ad to Discover
Owners and admins paste a link into Discover's search box and choose Add. A post, a profile or a Meta Ad Library link each lands in the right place.
To bring something into Discover that is not there yet, paste its link into the search box and choose Add. This works for a single post, for a creator or brand profile, and for an ad from Meta's Ad Library. Only a workspace's owners and admins can do it.
Before you start
You need to be an owner or admin of the workspace. For other members the search box still searches, but it does not offer to add. If you try anyway, Discover answers Only the workspace's owners and admins can change Discover.
Add a post
- Open Discover and copy the link of the post from its platform.
- Paste it into the search box. The box's hint reads Search posts, or paste a link to add a post or a creator…
- An Add button appears beside the box. Click it.
- Discover shows Adding… reading the post, its numbers and its text. and then opens the page with the post in it.
The post is scored against its creator's usual posts in the same format, and it is kept as one of your workspace's saves. If the post is already in the catalogue, Discover reuses it, so the same post is never stored twice. If it is already yours, the message says Already in Discover.
Add a creator or a brand
Paste a profile link instead of a post link, on the Creators or Brands page. The search box there reads Search creators, or paste a link to add one… or Search brands, or paste a link to add one…
- A profile pasted on Brands is added as a brand. A LinkedIn company page is always a brand.
- If you paste a profile on one page and it belongs on the other, Discover takes you to the page where it landed.
- The message reads Added to Creators: or Added to Brands: with the name. Already in means Discover already had it.
A new account is read in the background. Until that finishes it is visible only to your workspace, and your workspace follows it. Once it has been read it becomes part of the shared catalogue, and everyone sees it.
Add an ad
Open Discover, switch to Ads, and paste a link to the ad in Meta's Ad Library, one that looks like facebook.com/ads/library/?id= followed by a number. Choose Add. If Discover does not hold the ad yet, it reads it once and keeps it for everyone, and the message says the ad was added to Ads.
When it does not work
| Message | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
| Send the post's link: it starts with https:// | The box held no link. Paste the whole address, including https://. |
| Could not add: followed by a reason | The platform did not give Discover what it needed. Read the reason, then try again or try the profile link. |
| (Platform) gave nothing of this post (no words, picture or video), so it wasn't added. | The post is empty when read, for example a deleted or private post. |
| (Platform) didn't say who posted this, so it wasn't added. | Discover will not keep a post without knowing its creator. Add the creator's profile first. |
| (Platform) didn't show who posted this with their photo, so it wasn't added. | A new creator has to come with a photo. Try the profile link instead. |
| That ad couldn't be read from Meta's Ad Library. | Check the link, then try once more. |
