Ways to add things to the Library
Write a doc, paste a link, save a post from Discover or the extension, sync a feed or forward an email. Every way an item gets into your Library.
There are six ways to get something into the Library: write it, paste a link, save a post from Discover, save a post with the browser extension, connect a sync source, or forward an email to your private address. Each one ends up as an item you can search, tag and put on a board.
Write it yourself
Press New at the top of the Library, or New in the sidebar, and choose Create a document, Create a card or Create a table. On the Library page you can also press D for a document, C for a card or Shift+T for a table, as long as you aren't typing in a field. The sidebar's Capture row, or Command+Shift+K (Control+Shift+K on Windows), makes a new card from anywhere in the app. Writing in these is covered in docs, cards and tables.
Paste a link
Choose Insert a link from New, press Shift+L, or choose Paste link in the sidebar's New menu. You can also paste a web address straight onto the Library page while nothing is selected for typing, and Omne adds it. The page is read, so the link keeps its title, a picture when there is one, and its text. See save a link.
Save a post from Discover
Posts you save from Discover appear under Posts, linked to the one Discover record rather than copied. Opening one shows the same post view Discover uses, with the transcript and breakdown where they exist.
Save with the browser extension
The Omne extension for Chrome puts a Save button on posts across many platforms. In its Save window you choose whether the post goes to Discover, to the Library, or to one of your boards, and you can add a note and tags. See save a post with the extension.
Connect a sync source
Sync sources fill the Library on their own: RSS feeds, Readwise highlights, Instagram saves, Pinterest boards, browser bookmarks and more. They live in Settings, under Workspace, in Sync sources. Start with sync sources.
Forward an email
Email capture, in the same Sync sources page, gives you a private address. Anything you forward to it lands in the Library looking as it was sent. See save emails to the Library.
Nothing arrives twice Links are matched by address, and sync sources remember what they already brought in. Adding a link that is already in the Library tells you so instead of making a second copy.
