How to connect X, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon and other social accounts
Which social accounts connect today, how each one signs in, and which are waiting for the platform's approval.
Social accounts live in Settings, under Integrations, in the Social group under Publish to. Each platform has its own way of signing in, described here with what has been tried.
X
X connects through its own connect window. It asks which account to use every time, so you can connect a second account without signing out of the first. X connected for real with an account. Note that X bills use of its API on its side, which can include posting.
Pinterest connects through Pinterest's sign-in. Once connected, Omne publishes and schedules Pins to your boards, secret ones too, and reads their numbers: see publish and schedule Pins. Omne holds Pinterest's trial level of access, so until Pinterest widens it, the Pins and boards Omne makes are seen only by you. Pinterest Ads is separate and waits for Pinterest's ads access.
Mastodon
Mastodon works with any server. Open the card, type your server or your whole address such as @you@server, and approve Omne on your server's own page. Mastodon connected for real with an account.
Bluesky
Bluesky has its own connect window. Type your handle and Omne shows whose account it is before you connect, then the window opens Bluesky's own sign-in. This window was not run in the latest check, so it is built but not proven.
Tumblr
Tumblr connects through Tumblr's sign-in and has been connected with a real account.
Nostr
Nostr takes a private key, either the nsec1… form or hex. Omne checks it, reads your profile and your write relays, and seals the key. An npub, which is a public key, is refused. A made-up key was refused as such, but a real key has not been tried.
Substack
Substack has its own connect window and connected for real. Posting to Substack is not built yet.
Telegram
Telegram connects through a bot and has its own connect window, for groups and channels the bot is added to. It has not been proven in the latest check.
Waiting for approval
LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads and TikTok depend on approvals that have not arrived. Read Integrations waiting for approval.
What connecting gives you
A connected account lets Omne show that account in its screens and, where it is built, act on it. Posting and scheduling to a platform depend on Omne's publishing engine, which is still being built, and on each platform's rules. The panel's What Omne can do chips list what a card supports. If a feature is not listed, it is not available yet for that service.
Two accounts
Use Connect another account in the card to add another account of the same platform, and each shows under Accounts.
